Color Healing and Feng Shui Support

(Originally written for the Interior Alignment Newsletter)

Hi. My name is Diantha, like the flower Dianthus, and I love color. Always have, always will. I’ve studied it, worked with it, played with it, wondered about it, dreamed about it, and developed a business around it. My goal was to change the world through color, and although a lofty and probably unachievable goal, my vision will always be one in which all people learn the value and power of color and how it can support us and transform us as we move through our challenges.

To that end I developed a full line of color sprays which I named after my first book: Simply Color (available now at your Kindle store). The 15 Simply Color sprays were developed during the time I was doing a lot of teaching about color and I wanted something simple and easy that my students and clients could use to bring in the color they most needed. You see, the colors of the rainbow spectrum relate to our chakras, organs, glands, emotional, physical, mental and spiritual planes. When something is out of alignment, we get sick, or have issues arise in our lives. Being human beings, this happens frequently as we are here to learn, to develop our souls and to raise our consciousness.

So I learned how to use color to our advantage and have taught countless others how to do that as well. For example, the color of red relates to our ability to ground and manifest. It is extremely helpful to use when we lack energy, or want to start a business, or when we desire to manifest something. Or the color of blue relates to peace, calming and communication. When I was learning to speak up for myself, blue was the color that supported me in learning and then doing that, with grace and ease.

Each color also relates to an organ and gland. So on the physical level it can have an impact as well as emotionally, mentally or spiritually. When we have a challenge in life, we use up the color in our energy body that relates to that color and we need to replenish it. These color sprays are like liquid light, carrying the vibrational qualities of each color so that using the spray will help replenish the colors that have been diminished or lost.

I developed 15 Simply Color Sprays, 10 Simply Color Children’s Sprays, 17 Simply Feng Shui sprays, and have 3 Healing Sprays. I also make custom sprays that target an individual’s needs.

One of my favorites in the Simply Color collection is Rainbow. It is a great general spray for elevating one’s spirits and bathing the energy body in the rainbow spectrum. It smells lovely even though the formulas are not created for scent but for effectiveness.

In the healing sprays, my favorite is Angel’s Song which was originally made for a young male who was in crisis. His Grandmother contacted me and told me what was going on and the result wass this amazingly powerful but gentle spray. Opalescence is another in this series developed to bring joy, creativity and inspiration to creative endeavors. Originally made for an artist, most people who order this are using it for it’s effervescent, magical energy.

Once I created the color sprays, I also developed a full line of Feng Shui sprays. My favorite in this collection is the Wellbeing one which brings in the vibration of wholeness and wellbeing based in the core of our being. This one targets the middle gua of the 9 in the bagua, which is known as Health. And without health, we have nothing.

The sprays contain a propietary blend of essential oils, flower essences, solarized and charged water, gem elixirs and energetic infusions. Each one is infused with the essence of love because I believe that the vibration of love can elevate the consciousness of the planet to its next level of development. So perhaps my original dream of changing the world CAN come true. With many of us working towards that end, I think it will!

Rainbow to the Rescue

(A guest blog post on ClarityisCrucial.com, home of Vanessa Velez!)

In my very varied career from Interior Designer to Color Consultant with side trips into Body Work, Healing Touch, and Feng Shui, I have always stuck with color as the main tool in my toolbox.

The colors of the rainbow correspond to those in our chakra system and thus perfectly suited to working with our bodies and etheric bodies in order to heal, move through challenges, and to clear blockages among other miracles.

Let’s take a quick overview of these 7 main rainbow colors, all while acknowledging the thousands of colors presented to us in any paint store!

There are still only 7 main colors, and indeed only 3 primary ones from which all the others arise, but let’s not get into a theoretical discussion yet! The only theory I will bring in at this point is that it is helpful to know which color lies across the color wheel from the color we are working with. This is because the complimentaries work together. If we have an excessive amount of color in our chakra system, we need to temper it by bringing in it’s opposite. How we do that will be covered at the end of this article.

  1. Red: (Base of the spine) One of the three primaries, red is the color that helps us ground and manifest. It is the color of our life force, the color of life itself and without it, nothing will happen. It is a color that speaks to us of our passions, of energy, of movement and action. If we have an abundance of red, we find ourselves challenged with anger issues, a quick temper, an ability to say cruel and scathing comments to others. To bring back balance, we would use the complimentary color of green to lessen those tendencies.
  2. Orange: (Sacral Chakra) A combination of red and yellow, orange is the color of bliss and creativity, of community and sharing. I love orange for the fact that it is quite healing for anyone who has suffered abuse, trauma or assault. I challenge you to find anyone who has not suffered at least one of these, even if in a small way. So orange is everyone’s ally for overcoming these things. If we have an overabundance, it can lead to eating disorders, a propensity to lie, or being an exhibitionist. Use blue to reign it in.
  3. Yellow: (Solar Plexus) Another primary, yellow is the color of happiness. Orange is bliss, yellow is happiness. It is the color of self esteem and ego, of assimilation of all kinds, and the color of our wisdom and ability to learn. An overabundance leads to being egotistical, stingy, controlling and argumentative. Use purple to rebalance this.
  4. Green: (Heart) A combination of yellow and blue, green is the color of nature, of the heart, of the healer, and it helps us find our direction in life. It reminds us of nature so it is a soothing color to most people and can make us feel more at home. An overabundance can cause jealousy, a gossipy nature, and a whiny, cruel personality. Use red to rebalance.
  5. Blue: (Throat) The third and last primary color, blue is the color of peace, truth, spaciousness, and integrity. We trust people who wear blue, and blue can make one appear to possess more authority than others. But is you have too much of it, it can cause stubbornness, arrogance, isolation, and a critical nature. To rebalance it bring in orange.
  6. Indigo: (Third Eye) The only tertiary color in the chakra system and rainbow, indigo resides at the third eye and is the color of intuition, higher mind functions, being able to channel or be psychic and looking within. This is a wonderful color to use for meditation and a spiritual Yoga/Chi Gong/Tai Chi practice. If you have an excessive amount, you will feel isolated, depressed, or be detached from reality. Bring in the color gold to rebalance.
  7. Purple: (Crown) A combination of red and blue, purple is the final color of the rainbow. It is the color of spirituality, and since it resides in the crown of our heads, it connects us most certainly to our Divine guidance. It is the color to use when we have suffered great loss, when we want to transform or transmute something, or when we are healing. Too much purple makes us suicidal, eccentric, elite. Use yellow to rebalance.

So how do we USE color?

This is why I love using color as a tool for healing and support for my clients, my friends, my family and my self: It is with us always.

  • We need only close our eyes and imagine the color in our mind’s eye.
  • We can use color breathing where we imagine the color around us and begin to breathe it in and out, filling our lungs and then our bodies with the color we need.
  • We can use clothing, jewelry and other accessories, flowers, flower essences, essential oils, foods, music…

There are endless ways to bring color into our lives.

Generally, when I recommend a color to someone they already have something in their possession in that color. And if you need a color that you don’t like, you can wear it where you don’t see it: underwear or socks perhaps.

Or you can use Simply Color Sprays which I created and make just for that purpose of serving people with their color needs. They are made from charged water, essential oils, gem elixirs, and/or flower essences and so are all natural and so simple to use.

And best of all, with color breathing, you can do that anywhere at any time and no one will even know, which makes it a perfect tool to use as you stand in a line to check out of a store, or going through airport security lines…anywhere you are, color can be there also!

I hope you enjoy the power and blessing of colors each and every day of your life. Color is such a gift we have been given, easily accessible, very powerful, lovingly gentle, and transformative.

The Two Magical Colors of March: Green and Gold

Detail from Indian Sari, Great Thaar Desert, photographed by Diantha Harris

(Originally published in Conscious Design Ezine for March 2017)

In this month of leprechauns and rainbows, two colors seem to emerge that represent this month of March: gold and green. Green is of course the signature color of St. Patrick and leprechauns, whereas gold is that color we seek at the end of the Rainbow! So let us take a moment to explore these two happy colors that accompany the anticipation of spring.

Green is, of course, the color we most associate with nature. It represents growth, life force, and movement forward. It is also the color of the heart center and is the fulcrum in our body’s energy system. There are three warm color centers below the heart (red/base, orange/sacral, yellow/solar plexus) and three cool color centers above it (blue/throat, indigo/third eye, purple/crown). It is from the heart that we seek to live our lives, but we often get pulled upward and live in our heads, or downward and live in our bodies. Still, it is a worthwhile effort to settle into living from our hearts for when we do, we can more easily assimilate our mission in life and live out our life’s purpose.

The challenge side of green is envy. When green is out of balance it can cause us to have feelings of envy and jealousy. It can cause us to be inflexible and bitter. It can cause us to waver off our path and be distracted from our purpose.

To keep a color in balance you can wear it, eat it, see it, smell it (essential oils), or hold it. Green is easy as it is readily available in all these ways. A nice green oil is cedar, which will also keep your space smelling fresh and clean.

Gold is a color that lies between our sacral center (orange) and solar plexus (yellow) and so contains both of those colors in its makeup. Orange contains yellow and red so we have a heavy dose of yellow in gold along with a dash of red. Yellow is the color of happiness but gold is the color of deep joy. Yellow is also the color of the ego while gold is the color of our soul’s purpose. Red is the color of energy and passion while gold is the color of dedication to our soul’s reason for being as it brings the energy in to fulfill that purpose.

Gold is the area of the body, which, in color therapy, we refer to as the Dan Tien or center of the body. It is that area that holds the treasure of who we are in the very depths of our being. It is the “gold” or treasure of who we are.

In the gold is our worth, our value. It is indeed a treasure, for each of us is unique and each of us has something of value to contribute to this world. In its challenge it can mean unexplained fear, but when it is in balance it is deep, gut knowledge, that knowing that we get that is also unexplained but we just “know”. We must pay attention to this “knowing” for when we do not, we always pay a price.

When you are unbalanced in the gold you may have a feeling of worthlessness, or be disconnected from your soul and your “knowing”. You may be deeply worried or fearful of something. To rebalance the gold you can do as outlined above in green. A nice gold oil is mandarin but I also love using frankincense.

When we mix these two colors together we get a brownish color that reminds us of our foundation, or being grounded and practical. Using these two colors in March will enhance our entire lives as the green will keep us heart centered and on track, and the gold will keep us connected to that deep knowing and to the core of our being.

Enjoy this prelude to spring and reinforce your life and your mission by using these two wonderful colors in concert with each other.

Aromatherapy

I am very fortunate to have a guest blogger today!  Marcela De Vivo has written here about aromatherapy and the importance of using high quality essential oils.  She knows of what she speaks!  High quality therapeutic essential oils are the ones to use for best results and for the highest vibratory results.  It is what I use in all my Simply Color Sprays, Simply Feng Shui sprays, and Children’s Color Set Sprays (you can see all of these on my website, www.lifepotentials.net .  Thank you Marcela for your wonderful article!

The Importance of Using Green Aromatherapy

Products designed to make our homes and offices smell better line the grocery, drug and hardware store shelves all over the world. Unfortunately, many of the commercial products intended to make our homes and offices feel cleaner and fresher are actually laden with potentially hazardous chemicals and man-made ingredients.

While there’s nothing wrong with wanting your home or office to smell pleasant, putting your health at risk isn’t necessary. Using green aromatherapy, you can make your space smell any way you want and even reap some extra benefits along the way– all without the potential side effects of chemical-filled sprays and scents.

Green Aromatherapy

Green aromatherapy is a relatively simple practice that uses natural essential oils to release a scent into the air. Essential oils, for the uninitiated, are simply distilled liquids naturally derived from natural sources like plants, flowers, fruits, fruit peels, herbs and spices.

The purpose of green aromatherapy is varied, and people commonly use it in different ways. Some people use aromatherapy to simply provide a pleasant scent for their home or office, while others use scents to help them relax, boost their energy level or regulate stress.

In aromatherapy, essential oils are typically assigned properties to denote how they will affect a person. Some scents are calming; others are energizing, while some remain neutral.

Benefits of Green Aromatherapy

Many essential oils have antibacterial, antimicrobial and antifungal properties, helping to kill harmful germs and bacteria that are in the air. While many essential oils can be used to clean when diluted with other ingredients like distilled water, they are beneficial even when they aren’t used directly on surfaces.

Practical Use

The most common way people use essential oils to give their home a fresh scent is to combine a small amount of boiling water with a few drops of essential oil in a small glass bowl or container with a top. When the essential oils come into contact with the water, the scent will become noticeable.

Typically, people only use a few drops of essential oils at a time – about one to five drops in most cases. Larger rooms or spaces may require a little more of the essential oil, but more should be added slowly since essential oils can be overpowering if too much is used.

Other people choose to add about 1 mL of their chosen essential oil to an oil burning lamp or put a few cotton balls dipped in essential oil in their vacuum cleaner bag to give an entire space a mild, fresh smell.

Using a vaporizer is another particularly effective method for releasing essential oils into your home slowly over a longer period of time. Best of all, you can use calming essential oils in your vaporizer at night and energizing oils during the day to help you focus.

Buy Organic Essential Oils

While most essential oils are safe for use, people buying them for aromatherapy purposes should always look for organic essential oils. That’s because even though non-organic essential oils are likely marketed as natural, they may contain ingredients to thin or boost their smell that could be potentially dangerous.

Avoid essential oils that contain filler ingredients, and always look for organic essential oil in your chosen scent.

Green aromatherapy using essential oils is an entirely safe alternative to using chemical-filled products to scent your home or office. Over time, you’ll likely save money buying a bottle of essential oil, which may cost more in the short-term, but will probably last you years.
